He later returned to the Bay Area to attend the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) School of Dentistry, earning his Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) degree. During dental school, Dr. Nguyen held multiple leadership roles in student organizations and was honored with the American Academy of Periodontology Dental Student Award.
Following dental school, Dr. Nguyen continued his advanced training at UCSF, where he completed a master’s degree in Orofacial Sciences along with specialty training in periodontology. During his residency, he served as Chief Resident and contributed to several peer-reviewed publications, including the International Journal of Periodontics and Restorative Dentistry, the International Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Implants, Biology, and Clinical Advances in Periodontics.
Dr. Nguyen is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and an active member of the American Academy of Periodontology, the American Dental Association, and the California Dental Association. As a Bay Area native, he is excited to serve the Alameda County dental community and to become an active member of the community at large.
Outside of dentistry, Dr. Nguyen enjoys exploring the outdoors and taking advantage of all that California has to offer. He has hiked and backpacked extensively throughout Northern California, with Yosemite and the Trinity Alps among his favorite destinations. In his free time, he also enjoys running, learning to play golf and tennis, traveling, and spending quality time with his family and close friends.
