Now Accepting New Patients in Pleasanton
What to Expect at Your First Visit
Your first appointment at Live & Smile is designed to give you a complete picture of your oral health, with no rushing and no pressure. A typical new patient visit includes:
● A review of your medical and dental history
● Digital X-rays, which use significantly less radiation than traditional film
● A comprehensive exam of your teeth, gums, and bite
● An oral cancer screening
● A professional same-day cleaning
● A tour of our office and time to meet your doctor
● A clear discussion of any findings and your treatment options, with a written plan and cost estimate before any work begins
Please plan for about 90 minutes for your first visit.
Personalized Treatment Planning
Following your exam, we’ll create a treatment plan tailored to your needs and smile goals. Our team will clearly explain recommended options, timelines, and next steps. We believe in collaborative care, so you’ll always have the opportunity to ask questions and make informed decisions. No treatment is started without your full understanding and approval.
Before Your Appointment
To make your first visit smooth:
- Complete your [new patient forms] after booking an appointment.
- Bring your insurance card and a photo ID.
- Bring a list of current medications, including supplements.
- Arrive about 10 minutes early if you prefer to complete anything in person.
If you are transferring from another dental office, we can request your records and X-rays for you. Just let us know when you book.
First Visits for Children
We welcome kids and recommend a first dental visit by their first birthday, or within six months of the first tooth appearing. A child’s first visit is short and gentle: a careful look at tooth development, a light cleaning and fluoride if your child is ready, and plenty of time for parent questions. Because we offer both dentistry and orthodontics, we can also monitor your child’s bite and alignment as they grow and tell you honestly if and when orthodontic care makes sense.
At what age should a child first see a dentist?
By their first birthday, or within six months of the first tooth erupting, whichever comes first. That’s the official recommendation from the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and the ADA. Early visits are less about treatment and more about acclimating the child, checking development, and coaching parents on brushing, fluoride, and bottle/pacifier habits.
Insurance and Payment Options
At Live & Smile Dental & Orthodontics in Pleasanton, we are in network with Delta Dental PPO and welcome patients with most other PPO dental insurance plans as an out-of-network provider. Our team will verify your benefits before your appointment and explain your estimated coverage and out-of-pocket costs.
Our office does not participate in HMOs or MediCal plans. For your convenience, we accept cash, checks, credit and debit cards, HSA/FSA accounts, CareCredit, and in-house financing. While we do not offer specials or promotional offers, our team is always available to discuss payment options and answer financial questions.
Don’t have dental insurance? We offer in-house benefits for uninsured patients and flexible payment options, and we will work with you to find a treatment plan that fits your budget. Contact our Pleasanton office to learn more about self-pay options.
